Baron Hannis Drelev

Page history last edited by EricCotD 10 years, 7 months ago

Baron Hannis Drelev was the youngest son of a minor noble family in southern Brevoy.  Because he had little chance of inheriting his family's land, he instead joined the Brevic military, where he distinguished himself until he lost an eye in a battle against a tribe of barbarians on the Numerian border.  Drelev was discharged from the military, and made his way east to Restov, where his family used their money and influence to have his eye regenerated.  Unfortunately for him, he had made several friends among the Aldori duelists of Restov, which came back to bite him when he attempted to rejoin the military, only to find that his indiscrete friendships had disqualified him.

Fortunately for him, those same friends came to him with another offer - lead a group of veteran soldiers and diplomats into the swamps of The Slough, found a settlement on its banks, and ensure that trade on the Sellen river flowed uninterrupted from the River Kingdoms to New Stetvan.  Aware that he was sandwiched between a potentially hostile band of barbarians and the numerous boggards of the Hooktongue Slough, he immediately began working on a fortress.  This fortress and the town that grew up around it became known as Fort Drelev, and the territory that he struggled with the Tiger Lords and the boggards to control became known as the Drelev Demense.

Baron Hannis Drelev and his wife attended Drogza's wedding, after which he indicated that he might be interested in a trade relationship with Tuskwood if they could develop the necessary port facilities to support it.

After his barony was invaded by The Tiger Lords, Baron Drelev agreed to an ill-conceived plan to attack Tor Inna.  Rather suspiciously, a large group of mercenaries arrived in Fort Drelev from the west as he prepared for the battle.  When his general Lord Terrion Numesti refused to lead the military force, Drelev threw the man into his dungeon and turned command over to Ameon Trask instead.  Trask proved to be not up to the task, and his attack force was crushed at the Battle of Tatzlford thanks to forewarning of the attack by Kisandra Numesti, Lord Terrion Numesti's daughter.

The party countered this attack by infiltrating Fort Drelev, defeating the Baron's mercenary guards, slaying the Baron, and eventually annexing the Drelev Demense into Tuskwood.
