The Tiger Lords

Page history last edited by jakealley@... 12 years, 7 months ago

The Tiger Lords are a warlike barbarian tribe whose territory once stretched from southern Numeria in the west to the very gates of Restov itself in the east, and encompassed most of the Stolen Lands at one time or another.  Stories in the region tell the tales of brave Tiger Lord warriors sacking cities, destroying hostile armies with ease, and in one particularly famous tale, driving a massive incursion of savage fae back to the First World from the Narlmarches in a single large battle known as the Battle of the Bloom.  Warlord Armag, who decisively won the Battle of the Bloom centuries ago, is a semi-mythical hero among the Tiger Lords, and even the surrounding lands still tell stories of his raids and conquests.

The passing of time has not been kind to the Tiger Lords, however, and the rise of the Technic League in Numeria and the formation of Brevoy by Choral the Conquerer resulted in their rapid decline as both militaristic nations systematically pushed them back into the wilderness.  The Tiger Lords are currently only a hollow shell of their former glorious selves, and while they still claim as theirs all of the territory they once ranged, they are currently limited largely to the Slough.

The Tiger Lords are currently ruled by a chieftain known as Armag the Twice-Born, a man claiming to be the reincarnation of the great Warlord Armag.   Because Armag has been dead for centuries, few outside of his tribe take his claim seriously.

The Tiger Lords do not have a coat of arms; instead they typically fly the pelt of a Numerian Tiger as both a banner and a symbol.  These pelts cannot be inherited - a warlord or other leader must claim one himself in a solitary hunt facing a great beast alone.  Thus, there is frequently a strong correlation between the size of the pelt on display and the strength of the leader flying it.
