The Nomen Centaurs are a tribe of barbaric centaurs based in the Nomen Heights and points eastward - indeed the Nomen Heights take their name from the Nomen centaurs.  A proud but simple people, the Nomen Centaurs are a matriarchal culture dominated by their warrior women and priestesses of a deity known as "Mother Moon," a goddess who some sages believe may be a local alias for Desna.  The Nomen Centaurs are nomadic and have no permanant settlements, and are led by a powerful War Priestess of Mother Moon by the name of Aecora Silverfire.

Since its foundation, Varnhold and the Nomen Centaurs have been in conflict, with several raids and skirmishes initiated by both sides as each attempts to defend territory that they view as rightfully their own.  Neither side has committed to an outright war at this point, but tensions remain high.

These tensions were resolved when the people of Varnhold unexpectedly vanished.  In the course of rescuing them, the party also rescued Xamanthe Silverfire, daughter of Aecora.  With this act, the Nomen Centaurs finally agreed to negotiate peace with the humans of the region, and a formal border between Nomen lands and that of Tuskwood and Varnhold was established.
